Sywell has a Flight Information Service, so the station is “Sywell Information”. An AFIS gives you information and traffic, not instructions: nobody clears you to land, and the decision is yours.

3. Overhead join

   An AFIS cannot clear you to join — it tells you the runway and what else is about, and you position yourself.

4. Downwind

   G-CD, roger, surface wind two four zero degrees eight knots, land at your discretion.

   “Land at your discretion”, never “cleared to land” — that is the difference an examiner listens for.

6. Vacated
